ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be: Aged 8-25 years on 31 December 2009 and
regularly studying with a professional music teacher. All MYM members are also
encouraged to participate in their own school or university ensembles.

Non Auditioning Applicants

MEMBOURNE YOUTH JUNIOR STRINGS:

No audition is required. Please complete the registration form and return it to MYM (audition fee not applicable).

Auditioning Applicants Must Perform

MELBOURNE YOUTH ORCHESTRA:

  • A movement from a concerto of the player’s choice
  • Orchestral excerpts, which will be available 14 days prior to scheduled audition

PERCY GRAINGER YOUTH ORCHESTRA, MELBOURNE YOUTH WIND SYMPHONY, MELBOURNE YOUTH STRINGS, MELBOURNE YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA:

  • Two pieces of the player’s choice, contrasting in style, tempo and technical requirements
  • Appropriate scales and arpeggios chosen by the panel

A player wishing to audition on more than one instrument should indicate their preferred instrument and pay an additional administration fee. If an interstate or international applicant is unable to attend an audition in person, he/she may present a recorded audition. Please telephone MYM on (03) 9376 8988 to arrange this.
