MYM Scholarhips

Melbourne Youth Music is pleased to be able to offer a
number of bursaries and scholarships to assist aspiring
young musicians.

BRUCE WORLAND SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship has been established in recognition of the leadership and inspiration given by Bruce Worland to young musicians, in his 32 years as the conductor of the Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra. One scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding string, woodwind, brass or percussion student who demonstrates excellent musical potential.

SATURDAY MUSIC BURSARY
This annual bursary provides full member registration for a student who may not otherwise be able to participate in the Saturday Music Program.

MELBOURNE YOUTH ORCHESTRA BURSARY
In 2004, a group of supporters was assembled for the purpose of lending support to the Melbourne Youth Orchestra. As a result, donations generated by this group are used to provide part or full bursaries for MYO players.

MELBOURNE YOUTH WIND SYMPHONY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is open to 2009 MYWS Brass and Percussion members who are intending to participate in the 2010 MYWS. The scholarship will cover subscription costs for 2010. If the successful applicant travels more than 120kms to Melbourne to rehearse and perform with the MYWS an additional $200 travel allowance will be granted.

HENRI TOUZEAU CELLO SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship has been established in recognition of one of Australia’s most eminent cellist, Henri Touzeau. One scholarship will be awarded to a dedicated cellist in the Melbourne Youth Strings or the Melbourne Youth Junior Strings.
