Designed for intermediate string players, Melbourne Youth Strings is a fun, energetic ensemble and an exciting learning environment for young musicians. Members of the Melbourne Youth Strings study fantastic repertoire and refine their ensemble playing skills focusing on dynamics, expression and sectional cohesion.   The ensemble is designed for students who wish to broaden their musical experiences, learn great music and meet new friends with the same love of music.

MYS CONCERTS:
The Melbourne Youth Strings will present three separate concerts as part of the MYM Ensemble Concerts, in three different professional venues across Melbourne.
MYM ENSEMBLE CONCERTS
at BMW Edge, Federation Square (Sunday 13 May)
MYM ENSEMBLE CONCERTS at Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Southbank Centre (Sunday 19 August) 
MYM GALA CONCERT at Dallas Brooks Centre (Saturday 10 November)

2 - Hamish Paterson 150x200HAMISH PATERSON Conductor

Hamish Paterson is active in music education, teaching violin and viola as well as conducting ensembles at Loreto Mandeville Hall and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar. Hamish also serves on the committee of the Australian Strings Association and manages the Paul McDermott Scholarship.  His qualifications include a Bachelor of Music (VCA, Hons - Monash), a Bachelor of Dance (VCA) and a Graduate Diploma of Education (Monash) including piano and vocal training.  Hamish has been Music Director for a number of amateur musicals in Melbourne including Kismet, HMS Pinafore, Cox and Box, The Merry Widow and Pirates of Penzance.  Hamish has also played the violin and viola in, and led various orchestras in Melbourne over the past 14 years.
