In 2011, the Melbourne Youth Music Bands Festival will be presented in conjunction with Fed Ed! Federation Square’s Education Program. The festival will aim to promote band participation, highlight a range of new repertoire and build a sense of community between ensembles.
A fantastic selection of regional and metropolitan bands will be invited to take part. We are excited to welcome as our special guest ensemble, the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra, who will make the journey across from Perth to perform.
Now in its sixth year, the MYM Bands Festival will see 13 bands perform in 4 concerts at the spectacular BMW Edge. The festival will be a high-profile public performance opportunity for the Melbourne Youth Wind Symphony and form the culmination of Season 1 of the Melbourne Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Members of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra will have the opportunity to share the stage with their professional counterparts under the baton of conductor Stefan Asbury. The Share the Chair Orchestra of MYO and professional musicians promises to be an experience like no other, working side by side with members of the MSO.
